ALDT Middle School Dance Program
Registration deadline: Tuesday, November 24
The ALDT Middle School Dance Program is a fun opportunity for students in grades 5–7 to experience what it’s like to be on a high school dance team! This course provides middle school dancers with an introduction to dance team style, including practice structure, kick technique, dance skills used on a high school dance team, and performance skills—all to help prepare them for participation on a junior varsity dance team. No prior dance experience is necessary to participate.
Practice Schedule:
- Tuesdays: 6:00-8:00pm in the Southwest Cafeteria
- Fridays: 3:30-5:30pm in the Southwest Gym
- There will also be one Saturday practice on January 16, 2027 at Albert Lea High School from 9:00-11:00am.
Dancers will learn a combination high-kick and jazz routine to perform at halftime of both the Tuesday, January 19, 2027 boys basketball game and the Friday, January 29, 2027 girls basketball game at Albert Lea High School. On these dates, dancers will attend the basketball games for their performances instead of attending their regularly scheduled class practice. Performance arrival times and additional details will be shared with participants.
The course will conclude with a final performance at the Albert Lea Dance Team Showcase on January 30, 2027, at Albert Lea High School. Additional showcase details will be shared with participants as the date approaches.
The course fee includes a performance t-shirt and 26 hours of instruction by a former ALDT dancer. Dancers will need to provide their own black leggings and Bloch Pulse black jazz shoes (LINK).
Participants should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable activewear and gym shoes to every practice. For performances, dancers should wear black leggings, their performance t-shirt, and Bloch black jazz shoes.
Caydence McVicker
Instructor
With over 15 years of dance experience, including five years on the Albert Lea Dance Team, the instructor brings both skill and passion to the studio. She has coached with Just for Kix for five years, working with dancers ages 3–18 in lyrical, kick, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop styles.
Her love for dance stems from its ability to inspire self-expression, connection, and personal growth. She hopes to help young dancers build friendships, gain confidence, and discover their own voice through movement.
