Maker Monday with Miss Sauer

Spend your evenings being creative and getting (just a little) messy while you are at it. Through these hand-building clay classes, Miss Sauer will walk you through the pinch, slab, and coil methods as you design, create, and paint your project(s). Whether you sign up for one or all three, these classes are a fun, creative outlet with a one-of-a-kind project to take home. All finished projects will be picked up from the ALCE office three days after the final lesson of each class.

Footed Clay Planter
Two lessons: 11/2, 11/9

Use the pinch method to form a pot and construct feet, appendages, and details for a whimsy planter!

Clay Trinket Box
Two lessons: 11/16, 11/23

Use the slab method to build a small trinket box and fitted lid.

Clay Coil Pot
Three lessons: 11/30, 12/7, 12/14

Use the coil method to create a unique surface design on your own vase, pot, or bowl.

Alissa Sauer is an art teacher that loves working with clay, paint, plaster, ink, photography, fiber arts, and nearly any other art-making material. She enjoys running, hiking, sculpting and designing covers for her sister's books. Sauer earned her degrees in Art and Art Education at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. Sauer currently teaches art at Southwest Middle School and assists coaching the Albert Lea cross country team.
