Youth Maker Monday with Miss Sauer

These clay classes are perfect for kids who enjoy building, art-making, and getting a little messy. Participants will design, create, and paint a clay project in 2–3 lessons. Newbies working with clay are more than welcome! Whether they sign up for one or all three, these classes are a fun creative outlet with a sweet project to take home. All finished projects will be picked up from the Albert Lea Community Ed office three days after the final lesson of each class.

Clay Bobble-Head
Two lessons: 11/2, 11/9

Explore the pinch method while you create a cute and silly bobble-head figure.

Clay Slab Bowl
Two lessons: 11/16, 11/23

Explore the slab method while building a functional clay bowl. These are dishwasher safe!

Clay Trinket Tray
Three lessons: 11/30, 12/7, 12/14

Explore the coil method as you design and create a small dish or tray to store your trinkets.

Alissa Sauer is an art teacher that loves working with clay, paint, plaster, ink, photography, fiber arts, and nearly any other art-making material. She enjoys running, hiking, sculpting and designing covers for her sister's books. Sauer earned her degrees in Art and Art Education at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. Sauer currently teaches art at Southwest Middle School and assists coaching the Albert Lea cross country team.
